How is ROI calculated?
ROI = (final value − amount invested) ÷ amount invested × 100. It's the total percentage gain (or loss) over the whole period.
What is annualized ROI?
It converts the total return into a per-year rate using compounding: (final ÷ invested)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. This makes investments of different lengths comparable.
Can ROI be negative?
Yes. If the final value is below what you invested, ROI is negative — a loss.
